We're looking for Support Workers in the Southampton area. As a Mental Health Support Worker with Cera you will be playing a fundamental part in improving the lives of people with mental health conditions and a history of substance misuse. You will need to be comfortable supporting people who may at times present with challenging behaviour, training will be given. The role may include elements of personal care.

Shift times vary between 08:00-18:00 - we require at least every other weekend, we would consider one day over a weekend. Previous experience is required - working with vulnerable clients with mental health and substance abuse. The visit times range from 30 minutes, to 3 hours with one client. We will be required to support with financial support. Professional boundaries are key in this role.

More about the role:

  • In this role you will need to be able to communicate and promote positive behaviour, identifying triggers in order to prevent escalations of stressful situations.
  • You must also be prepared to handle emergencies and crisis situations, using de-escalatation techniques to diffuse situations.
  • You will have an awareness of and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds and the co-occuring disorders and the how they can influence menal health and substance misuse issues.
  • You will be resilient and able to manage stress and the emotional demands of the role.
  • You should have the ability to work collaoratively with other healthcare professionals, social services and community organisations to ensure the people you support get access to a full range of support services.
